Who this covers
This policy covers jithusygal.com, the personal portfolio and engineering-tools site of Jithu Sygal. For anything not answered here, email jithu.sygal@gmail.com.
Signing in to use a member tool
Some tools (BeamCalc, Plates & Slabs 1 and 2, EN 1990 Load Combinations, EN 1991-2 Traffic Loads, Slope Stability, Natural Frequency & Deflection) are free but need a sign-in. Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth using Google or LinkedIn as the sign-in provider.
When you sign in, I store your name and email address, as provided by Google or LinkedIn, in a Supabase project hosted in the EU. Nothing else from your Google or LinkedIn account is collected.
- This is used only to manage your member account and know who is using the tools, so I can keep building what's useful.
- Your details are never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing you haven't asked for.
- A session cookie (
js_session) is set in your browser to keep you signed in. It lasts about an hour and refreshes automatically while you're active; it carries no personal data itself, only a session token. - To have your account and data deleted, email jithu.sygal@gmail.com and I'll remove it.
Requesting the CV
The CV is shared through a short form rather than a direct download link. If you request it, I store the name, work email, company (if given), and whether you identified as a recruiter or hiring manager, in the same EU-hosted Supabase project.
- Used only to know who's asked for the CV — not for marketing, and not shared with anyone else.
- A plain "unlock" cookie (
js_cv_unlock) is set in your browser afterwards, lasting about 180 days, so you aren't asked again on that browser. It carries no personal data, only a yes/no marker. - To have this record deleted, email jithu.sygal@gmail.com.
Joining the StrucFEA waitlist
If you join the StrucFEA beta waitlist, I store the email address, your selected role (e.g. "Bridges", "Buildings"), and your consent to be emailed about the beta, again in the same EU-hosted Supabase project.
- Used only to email you about the StrucFEA beta. You can unsubscribe at any time, and the email itself explains how.
- Never sold or shared with anyone else.
Reporting a bug in a tool
Every tool has a "Report bug" button. If you use it, I store what you describe, the page you were on, your browser's user-agent string, and your email if you choose to give one, in the same EU-hosted Supabase project.
- Used only to fix the tool — not for marketing, and not shared with anyone else.
- The email field is optional and only needed if you want a reply.
- To have a report deleted, email jithu.sygal@gmail.com.
Which tools get opened
Every tool page quietly notes that it was opened — no button, nothing to accept, just a single line written to the same EU-hosted Supabase project. This is how I see which tools are actually worth building out further.
Each entry records which tool, the page URL, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. On a member tool, since you're signed in anyway, it also records your name and email so I can see usage per account rather than just a raw count; on an open, no-sign-in tool, it's anonymous.
- Used only to prioritise what to improve or build next — never for marketing, advertising, or sold or shared with anyone else.
- It's a first-party log, not third-party analytics or ad-tracking: nothing is shared with an ad network, and there's no cross-site tracking.
- To have your usage history deleted, email jithu.sygal@gmail.com.
What this site doesn't do
- No third-party analytics or ad-tracking scripts are loaded on this site — the only usage logging is the first-party one described above.
- No cookies are used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
- The open, no-sign-in tools (Frame Sketchpad, Cantilever Retaining Wall Designer, Section Properties Builder, CAD Sketchpad where applicable) don't send your model data anywhere — the calculations run in your browser. Opening the tool is logged as above; what you build inside it is not.
Who else sees this data
Two processors are involved, both only to the extent described above:
- Supabase (EU region) — hosts the account and waitlist data, and handles the Google/LinkedIn sign-in flow.
- Google and LinkedIn — only if you choose to sign in with them, to confirm your identity. I never see your password for either service.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete any data held about you, or withdraw consent to be emailed, at any time, by emailing jithu.sygal@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
If what's collected changes, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
